$1,500 Tax Credit

 There are two ways to qualify for the Federal Energy Tax Credit:**

  1. ENERGY STAR® Qualified Path: For purchases made between
    January 1, 2009 and May 31, 2009 only***.

     

    1. Purchase an ENERGY STAR qualified window or door for your climate zone between January 1, 2009 and May 31, 2009;
    2. Save the NFRC/ENERGY STAR labels and accompanying sales receipt for the products purchased and keep them with your tax documents. Please note that, based on NFRC guidelines, Andersen cannot re-print product labels. (Note: If you have purchased a qualified product that is listed on our Manufacturer’s Certification Statement, please use that statement along with your sales receipt for tax purposes. Retaining your NFRC/ENERGY STAR label is not required for products listed on the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement.)
    3. Install eligible products in your primary residence between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010 and meet all other requirements outlined in the federal tax code.
    4. Claim the tax credit associated with your qualifying purchase on your Federal tax filing for the applicable 2009 and/or 2010 tax year.

     

     

  2. Manufacturer’s Certification Statement Path: For purchases made between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010:

     

    1. Purchase a qualifying  window or door with both a U-Factor and SHGC of 0.30 or lower. See  Manufacturer’s Certification Statement (see link below) for a list of  products that have NFRC certified U-Factor and SHGC values less than or equal to 0.30.
    2. Save your sales receipt and the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement** with your tax documents.
    3. Purchase and install qualifying products in your primary residence between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010 and meet all other requirements outlined in the federal tax code.
    4. Claim the tax credit associated with your qualifying purchase on your Federal tax filing for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax year.

     


2009/2010 FEDERAL ENERGY TAX CREDIT DETAILS

  • Tax credit applies to "qualified energy efficient improvements" which include exterior windows, doors and skylights, for the taxpayer’s primary residence in the United States.****
  • Tax credit is for the cost of the product only and does not include installation costs. Be sure to ask for a sales receipt that shows the cost of the product only.
  • Tax credit is 30% of the amount paid for the product up to a maximum of $1,500 combined for 2009 and 2010 (including other eligible items listed in the IRS Notice).**
